Everything you need to survive the wilds and take down your first dragon. This wiki covers builds, weapon rankings, quest walkthroughs, skill training paths and base locations, all re-verified after each update rather than left over from early access launch week. XP rates and drop numbers come from tracked player sessions with sample sizes shown, so you can judge the data before you commit to a grind.

Your Dragonwilds Journey

About RuneScape: Dragonwilds

A survival co-op game set in the RuneScape universe, where classic skills like mining, fishing and runecrafting meet open-world base building and dragon hunts. Progress is persistent: your skills, unlocks and base carry between sessions, so even a rough outing moves you forward if you banked the right resources. The game is in early access with regular updates adding new regions, quests and gear tiers. Most wiki content online was written during launch week and never revisited; the tables here are re-checked when patches ship, and anything with fewer than twenty data points is flagged rather than presented as settled fact.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds Beginner Guide

Four choices in your first session decide whether you're scrapping for basic tools an hour in or already smelting tier-two gear. None of them require fast reflexes — they're about knowing what to prioritize before the game tells you.

  1. 1

    Pick your starting skills

Mining and smithing give you weapons and armor from the first rock you hit. Woodcutting and construction let you place a base early, but you'll fight with starter gear longer.

  2. 2

Place your base near iron ore

Iron is the first bottleneck. A base next to an iron vein saves ten minutes of hauling per session, and that gap compounds fast.

  3. 3

Do the Restless Ghost quest early

It's short, it's easy, and the prayer XP reward unlocks protection prayers that cut your food costs in half for every fight after.

  4. 4

Don't fight dragons until tier-three gear

Dragons are not the first boss — they're a gear check. Tier-two armor lets you survive one hit; tier-three lets you survive the full combo, which is what actually matters.

  • 0.12.1 PatchBalance pass on tier-five and tier-six armor, staff damage scaling reworked, and three new quests added to the Umbral Sands region.
  • Umbral Sands UpdateNew desert biome with its own resource nodes, quest chain, and the necromancer armor set. Arrived mid-2026.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds Weapon Tier List

Ranked by kill speed against endgame dragons, not by the damage stat on the tooltip. A slow two-handed weapon that one-shots a pack beats a fast bow that needs four volleys, and the gap widens as enemy health scales at higher tiers.

SAbyssal Whip, Dragon Two-Hander — both clear full encounters in seconds once you hit the stat thresholds.
AElder Shortbow, Mystic Staff, Rune Halberd — reliable through endgame, only fall off against the hardest dragons.
BAdamant Crossbow, Battle Staff — solid through mid-game, need heavy upgrading to stay relevant past tier five.
CBronze Sword, Training Bow — replace at the first opportunity; they exist to teach combat timing.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds FAQ

Is this wiki free to use?

Yes. The game itself is a paid early access title, but nothing on this site is paywalled and there is no account to create.

Will there be a wipe when 1.0 launches?

Officially unconfirmed. The roadmap mentions it as a possibility but no decision has been announced. This answer will be updated when a statement is made.

Is this the official RuneScape: Dragonwilds wiki?

No. This is a fan-made community wiki and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the developer or publisher.

Does the game support crossplay?

Yes. PC, Xbox and PlayStation players can join the same session. Crossplay is enabled by default with no extra configuration needed.

How often is the wiki updated?

After every patch, and continuously between patches as players report new data. Sample counts are shown on every table so you can tell how fresh the numbers are.

Can I suggest a correction?

Yes. Corrections backed by repeatable evidence are folded into the tables quickly, and the sample count is updated at the same time so readers can see the data behind the change.

New to RuneScape: Dragonwilds?

Start with the beginner guide, then check the quest page before your first real session. Between them they cover the two mistakes that end most early runs: building a base too far from iron, and fighting dragons before your armor can survive the full combo.
